New Life for Nylon

Sculpteo launched a recycling program called Re-cycleo that aims to recycle obsolete 3D printed parts and prototypes.

The program is aimed at encouraging more businesses and consumers to consider the end-of-lifecycle 3D printed part management.

Only parts printed by Sculpteo qualify for the program, and customers are responsible for shipping them to Sculpteo in France

At first, the Re-cycleo program will only recycle nylon (PA 11 and PA12) used in selective laser sintering (SLS) and Multi-Jet Fusion, but they plan to expand to other materials in the future.

Nylon is not commonly found in everyday items and is hard to recycle at typical household recycling centers or even industrial waste facilities.

The recycled prints will be reused into new material that manufacturers can use for almost any type of plastic product

Sculpteo hopes to expand the program to other locations in North America if it goes well.
